Background

During my 44-year career of boat lettering, I wrote upwards of 70 articles for the sign trade, lettered several America’s Cup boats, and published original research on Leonardo Da Vinci. As part of my work involved testing equipment and illustrating projects with photography, I developed technical skills for large format printing.

A national magazine once wrote that my baseball action photos made you “want to be there.” The director of the FDR Memorial Commission put my photos of the construction and dedication of the FDR Memorial in the National Archives, and the Park Service also published them.

Word-of-mouth has been a common feature of my free-lance career, with one well-done job inducing the next. Custom work has been another important feature, with clients making special requests or venturing novel ideas. The photography samples of this website can be made to order at various sizes, in various media, or to individual specifications.
